Wednesday
On Wednesday morning I had a Zoom meeting with cannabis cultivator that also owns a vineyard interested in Phase 3. I think its very interesting the different groups that have input regarding Phase 3, in the evening I met with the Covelo Cannabis Advocacy Group regarding Phase 3 and they very much want to see cannabis remain small. The BOS will hear the Cannabis Phase 3 item on April 19th and I hope that people take the time to read the agenda item before commenting and think about what will make the cannabis ordinance workable in our community so that we don't have to keep coming back to it and we can move forward with successful applicants obtaining their State License.
Thursday
A friend mentioned that I should just leave the Coffee and Conversation meeting in my weekly update so that it reminds people that I am available every Thursday morning from 7:15am-7:45am on Zoom Meeting ID 7079548230 Password LOCAL707. This week (of course) there was a lot of discussion around cannabis but as weeks go by we just speak about whatever is the hot topic!
On Monday's and Thursdays I go to Lucky to do the grocery pick up to take to the Food Bank. Although there are a lot of breads and sweets it does help people stretch their food budget further and it helps keep food out of the landfill. Have you ever thought about how much food you send to the green bin? Such a waste when there are kids going hungry. This is something we need to work on as a community.
Also on Thursday's I have the Mendocino Business and Government Leaders meeting. Last week we discussed the Governor's plan to reopen more quickly based on the quantity of vaccines delivered in an equitable way to reach those populations that have been the most impacted.
Thursday evening I attended the City of Ukiah Riverside Park Regeneration Plan Community Meeting. The City of Ukiah received a grant some years ago to complete this work and they are moving forward with the design phase. This is near my neighborhood so I am very interested to see the transformation. For those of you that don't know the Riverside Park is at the end of Gobbi Street and one of our few public parks that has Russian River Access.
Friday
On Wednesday I went on a field trip to Willits to discuss Phase 3 cannabis.
And on Friday we began the "Streeterie". This is the "Eatery in the Street" on Friday and Saturday evenings I close down the street in front of my office at 104 N School Street between Perkins and Standley Streets. This is a safe outdoor picnic area that is sanitized between each guest. It offers a way to support the restaurants with additional sales as people can order "to-go" food and drinks and come to this open air dining area to enjoy their meal. The Streeterie is open Friday and Saturday 5:30p-7:00p
Saturday
On Saturday I decided to do a Farmers Market Pop-Up. I just went down to the Farmers Market and popped up a table and two chairs and had a seat waiting for anyone that wanted to come and talk to me an opportunity. I did have a few people sit down and chat so I think it was time well spent and I will do it again. Keep your eyes peeled at the Farmers Market!
Night two of the Streeterie had a much better turn out! I had three families come down. If you'd like to support local businesses please order "to-go" and come enjoy our beautiful downtown.
Sunday
Of course Sunday was Easter. I hope that you all were able to enjoy a relaxing day with your family.
Monday
On Monday I was right back at it with a LAFCO meeting. Over and over we heard that the barrier to moving forward with some of the City of Ukiah's requests for Annexation was the lack of a tax sharing agreement between the City and County. In May I will bring forward an agenda item to create a BOS Ad Hoc for Tax Sharing. I believe that each of the four cities may also create a similar action so that we can move forward projects in various areas not just the City of Ukiah.
OK this isn't actually Supervisor related but I wanted you to know that we had an Art Walk Meeting and we plan to reopen the Art Walk on May 7th so please follow the event! https://fb.me/e/3kgQfyf7R
Tuesday
And of course today we had a BOS Meeting:
